The Maintenance Planner will lead the maintenance planning and scheduling function for a major heavy industrial operations facility Brisbane. Working within a highly dynamic 24/7 environment, the role will coordinate maintenance activities across large critical assets and high value equipment.

The role acts as the central link between maintenance, operations, engineering and contractors, ensuring maintenance work is effectively prioritised, planned and executed while balancing operational requirements and schedules.

A key focus of the position will be improving planning discipline, reducing reactive maintenance and strengthening preventative maintenance processes to ensure optimal asset reliability.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead short and long-term maintenance planning and scheduling across assets.
  • Improve preventative maintenance compliance and reduce reactive maintenance.
  • Manage and optimise maintenance planning processes within the CMMS system (Maximo).
  • Coordinate closely with operations teams to secure maintenance access to critical equipment.
  • Reduce backlog of non-critical maintenance work while maintaining equipment availability.
  • Work with internal maintenance teams and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance performance and asset reliability.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the following
  • Significant experience in maintenance planning or maintenance leadership roles within heavy industrial, manufacturing, logistics, or infrastructure environments.
  • Experience working with CMMS systems (Maximo highly regarded).
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance planning, work order management and scheduling processes.
  • Ability to operate effectively within 24/7 operational environments where priorities can change quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with operations teams, technicians and contractors.
  • Experience working within unionised or complex industrial environments is highly advantageous.
