The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will play a key role in delivering high-quality financial reporting, operational analysis and cost insights to support informed business decision-making. This position sits at the intersection of finance and operations, with a strong focus on inventory accounting, cost modelling, production variance analysis and ESG reporting. You will partner closely with operational leaders to drive financial efficiency, strengthen controls and enhance reporting capability.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, cost centre reporting and detailed variance analysis with commentary
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes for operational overheads
  • Deliver operational performance reporting to support leadership decision-making
  • Manage end-to-end material, labour and overhead recovery postings, including variance investigation
  • Own inventory accounting, including valuation, reconciliations and data integrity
  • Manage stocktakes, cycle counts, adjustments and general ledger reconciliation
  • Maintain inventory provisioning, obsolescence and LCNRV assessments
  • Support product and standard costing, BOM reviews and margin analysis
  • Conduct production variance analysis and ensure timely job closure
  • Partner with operations to drive cost optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Own sustainability and ESG financial metrics, reporting and compliance requirements
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance controls and reduce risk
  • Recommend ERP and BI system enhancements to improve reporting capability
The Candidate
  • Proven experience in a Management Accountant role within a complex or manufacturing environment
  • Strong expertise in inventory accounting, cost modelling and variance analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with sustainability and ESG reporting
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
  • Advanced ERP and BI systems capability
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex financial data
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner effectively across operations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • CA/CPA qualified or in progress (desirable)
