Are you a mental health clinician who thrives in fast-paced, meaningful work and wants to make a real impact in suicide prevention? I’m partnering with a leading regional Victorian mental health service to help them welcome a passionate clinician into their Hospital Outreach Post-Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) team.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a truly purpose-driven role providing assertive outreach, therapeutic intervention and short-term aftercare for people in crisis. You’ll work across inpatient, emergency and community settings, supported by a team that genuinely lives its values and invests heavily in professional development, wellbeing, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
About the Role
As a HOPE Clinician, you will:
- Provide specialist assessments, safety planning and targeted therapeutic interventions for people post–suicide attempt or experiencing significant suicidal ideation.
- Deliver assertive outreach and coordinated aftercare in both inpatient and community environments.
- Work closely with emergency services, mental health triage, lived-experience workers, families and carers to create a safe, recovery-oriented network around each consumer.
- Contribute to service development, continuous improvement and community education initiatives.
- Participate in evidence-based suicide prevention training frameworks including CAMS, STARS, and Engage–Understand–Respond.
About You
To thrive here, you’ll bring:
- Qualification & registration as a Psychologist, Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker.
- Clinical experience supporting people experiencing suicidality, acute presentations, or complex mental health needs.
- A trauma-informed, culturally sensitive and recovery-oriented practice style.
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation and communication skills.
- Experience working with at-risk groups (e.g. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, CALD, LGBTQIA+, youth, disability).
- A Victorian Driver’s Licence, National Police Check & WWCC (or willingness to obtain).
What’s on Offer
This service takes pride in looking after its people. You’ll enjoy:
- A supportive, values-driven workplace with strong leadership and a genuinely warm culture
- Extensive internal & external professional development, including scholarships for postgraduate study
- Salary packaging, onsite parking, staff café, EAP, and wellbeing programs
- A highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment
- Opportunities to shape service delivery and contribute to meaningful community impact
If you’re passionate about suicide prevention, recovery-oriented care and working with a team that shows up for each other every day, I’d love to hear from you.
