$46.80 - $56.30 per hour + super | Permanent Part-Time Role (0.4 - 0.8 FTE)
We're seeking a dedicated Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join a well-established private hospital in Melbourne's inner north. You will work within their mental health service, supporting both inpatient and outpatient / day-program settings, contributing to holistic recovery and functional outcomes for people with diverse mental health needs.
About the service
- The hospital's Mental Health unit provides both inpatient admissions and community / day program care, delivering evidence-based treatments across anxiety, depression, bipolar, trauma, personality disorders and other mental health presentations.
- Their day programs offer group therapy, psychoeducation, skills training (e.g. CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness) and supportive recovery groups.
- The facility recently underwent a major redevelopment, expanding mental health capacity, adding new group therapy spaces, a dedicated older persons' unit, and upgraded inpatient and outpatient mental health environment.
- Provide OT assessment, intervention, and rehabilitation support for clients with mental illness, ensuring function, daily living skills, vocational, and social goals are addressed
- Deliver individual and group-based therapeutic interventions within the inpatient and day program settings
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and rounds
- Support discharge planning, community reintegration, and liaise with external providers where needed
- Participate in program development, quality improvement, and outcome measurement
- Mentor and support OT students or junior staff (as relevant)
- Bachelor / Master in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent), with current AHPRA registration
- Experience or demonstrated interest in mental health settings (acute, community, or day programs)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage complex presentations with comorbidity, risk assessment capability, and flexibility in your approach
- Commitment to recovery-oriented practice and evidence-based care
- Hourly rate $46.80 to $56.30 + super, depending on experience
- Flexible part-time hours between 0.4 - 0.8 FTE
