With responsibility for a large team and significant spend, this role offers the opportunity to bring structure, efficiency and long term strategy to a complex, high-volume operation.
About the Role
This is a newly created senior leadership role. You’ll oversee all national logistics operations, covering ground transport, container movements, wharf operations and export freight. With 4 State Managers reporting in and a team of 200+ people, you’ll be responsible for driving both day to day execution and long-term change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and centralise national logistics and freight operations across 20+ sites.
- Manage a $50m - $100m logistics budget driving efficiency and cost reduction.
- Oversee and influence international freight and export operations, improving sophistication and processes.
- Lead tenders and contract negotiations, particularly in underperforming states.
- Build and maintain strong supplier, port, and 3rd party relationships.
- Implement improved processes, reporting and systems
- Drive cultural and operational change across a diverse workforce, ensuring better communication, efficiency and compliance.
- Balance short term operational improvements with long term strategy, including potential asset renewal and fleet optimisation.
- Champion cross-functional collaboration, working closely with finance, operations and procurement.
About You
We’re looking for a commercially minded logistics leader who is resilient, hands on, and thrives in a complex environment. You’ll be able to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, from drivers in the yard to executives in the boardroom and influence lasting change across the business.
You will have:
- Strong knowledge of export and international logistics is essential.
- Experience managing large P&L / operating budgets.
- Proven success driving contract negotiations and tenders.
- A track record of leading cultural and operational change across multi-site operations.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Continuous Improvement mindset and ability to introduce practical systems and processes.
