This role has evolved well beyond traditional people management. The ideal candidate will need to be a senior, hands-on network professional who can own the network end-to-end, set technical direction, and help shape where it goes next.
If you're someone who still likes getting your hands dirty technically, enjoys architecture and automation, and wants real ownership, this role is for you.
What You'll Own:
- Ownership of the global network environment — performance, resilience, and scalability
- Ownership of network architecture and the technical roadmap
- Technical leadership across a distributed team
- Complex troubleshooting and technical decision-making
- Network automation initiatives and smarter ways of working
- Vendor relationships and technical conversations
- New site deployments — design, scoping, and delivery
- Enterprise-scale, Cisco-first network
- Cisco Routing & Switching, DNAC, and some Meraki
- Strong focus on automation, scripting, and pipelines
- Global Network team
- Lead a small, globally distributed team of Network Administrators
- Run team meetings, set direction, and support development
- Light people management — prior leadership experience is helpful but not essential
- Occasional travel (kept minimal, using remote hands where possible)
- Some early/late meetings due to global time zones
- Senior-level enterprise networking experience
- Strong hands-on Cisco capability
- Confident owning technical outcomes and decisions
- Architecture mindset - you understand how networks are built and how they evolve
- Comfortable engaging with IT leaders and the wider business
- Automation experience is highly regarded
