The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced CFO to provide strategic financial leadership and undertake a comprehensive review of the organisation’s financial management framework.  Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the senior leadership, this part-time, fixed-term role will focus on reviewing existing processes, systems, roles, and people leadership within the finance function.
  
The CFO will deliver practical, evidence-based recommendations to strengthen financial governance, reporting, efficiency, and capability across the organisation. This role is ideal for an accomplished finance leader who enjoys diagnostic, improvement-focused work and contributing to long-term sustainability in the not-for-profit sector.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Review and assess current financial systems, processes, and controls, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate the organisation’s budgeting, forecasting, and reporting frameworks.
  • Provide strategic financial advice to the General Manager and Board to support effective decision-making.
  • Review financial governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks, including ACNC and funding obligations.
  • Assess the structure, capability, and leadership of the finance team and related functions.
  • Develop clear recommendations and an implementation roadmap to strengthen financial performance, governance, and accountability.
  • Prepare concise reports and presentations for the Board and Audit & Risk Committee.
  
The Candidate
You will be a CA/CPA qualified senior finance professional who combines strong technical acumen with strategic insight and a collaborative approach. You’re confident reviewing and improving complex financial environments and enjoy working closely with leaders to build clarity, capability, and sustainable performance.
  
You will bring:
  • Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance executive
  • Demonstrated success in improving financial systems, reporting, and internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of financial governance, compliance, and reporting frameworks
  • Experience assessing and developing finance teams and leadership capability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, including Board reporting experience.
  • A values-driven approach, with integrity, transparency, and commitment to good governance.
