The Opportunity
In this role, you’ll take ownership of the payroll function, guiding your team to meet deadlines, maintain compliance, and deliver exceptional service to the business. You’ll be hands-on in processing, while also focusing on leadership, reporting, process improvements, and supporting the implementation of a new payroll system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a small payroll team, providing coaching, support, and regular performance feedback
- Oversee end-to-end payroll operations for Australia, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all legislation
- Interpret awards, enterprise agreements, and leave entitlements
- Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and journal entries for month-end and year-end cycles
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify efficiencies and streamline workflows
- Play a key role in the successful implementation of a new payroll system, including testing, process mapping, and training
- Contribute to ongoing payroll-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proven experience managing or supervising payroll in a large, complex business environment
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, award interpretation, and compliance requirements
- Experience supporting or leading a payroll system implementation or upgrade
- Proficient in payroll reporting, reconciliations, and problem-solving
- Confident communicator with a collaborative, hands-on leadership style
- $120,000 + super + bonus
