About the Role
Reporting to the Executive – People & Safety, this is a true generalist P&C Business Partner role supporting a defined portfolio, with a focus on Citywide’s operations in the inner west/CBD.
  
Working closely with leaders and the broader People & Culture team, you will support the full employee lifecycle and contribute across a broad range of operational and strategic people matters.
  
The role spans employee relations, industrial matters, workforce planning, organisational change, leadership capability, engagement, talent and broader people initiatives.
  
With genuine breadth and a strong mix of operational and strategic work, this is an opportunity to build trusted relationships, be close to the business and make a visible contribution across the full People & Culture remit.
  
Key responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with leaders and the broader People & Culture team across the full employee lifecycle and a broad range of people matters
  • Coach and support leaders on employee relations, conduct, performance, wellbeing, and day-to-day people matters
  • Support organisational change, restructures, and role design in a complex operational environment
  • Partner with leaders on workforce planning, capability uplift, and team effectiveness
  • Drive culture, engagement, and retention initiatives across the portfolio
  • Lead engagement activity, including survey analysis, action planning, and implementation
  • Support learning and development initiatives and broader capability uplift across the business
  • Support talent acquisition activity in collaboration with leaders and the broader People & Culture team
  • Provide advice on EBAs, industrial matters and union engagement, including support for enterprise bargaining as required
  • Partner with Legal & Risk on complex and sensitive people matters
  • Contribute to EVP development and broader strategic People & Culture initiatives
About You
You are a pragmatic, credible and hands-on P&C professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operational environment and building trusted relationships across the business.
  
You will bring:
  • Proven experience as a P&C or HR Business Partner in a hands-on, generalist role
  • Strong employee and industrial relations capability, including experience working with EBAs and unions
  • A highly collaborative working style, with the ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively across leaders, functions and operational teams
  • Strong coaching, influencing and stakeholder management capability, with the ability to build credibility at all levels
  • Sound judgement, a pragmatic approach and the ability to navigate complex people matters with confidence
  • Experience across workforce planning, organisational change, engagement, and broader people initiatives
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business, Commerce or Law
Additional Information
  • This is a full-time role based in North Melbourne, with regular travel across operational depots. A current driver’s licence is required. Citywide supports hybrid working arrangements where possible and practical.
