Job title : Procurement and Inventory Controller
Location : Victoria
Job type : Permanent or Full Time
Job reference : 1666318
Your new company

Join a highly successful, family-owned Australian business that’s been growing for decades. With 20 branches and 170 staff nationwide, this company manufactures and distributes a broad range of engineered products nationwide.

They combine local manufacturing with strong supplier partnerships internationally, importing around 85% of their product range. The culture is hands-on, fast-paced and entrepreneurial — ideal for someone who likes variety, thrives in a flexible environment, and enjoys being part of a tight-knit, energetic team.

The business has grown rapidly over the last 5 years, forward-thinking and investing in new technology — including AI and ERP improvements — to modernise its supply chain.

Your new role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing both local and overseas purchasing activities as well as managing inventory across multiple sites.

Day to day, you’ll:
  • Raise and manage purchase orders for local and international suppliers
  • Track stock levels and update data in Nexus ERP
  • Support branch managers with purchasing and pricing oversight
  • Liaise with the VIC warehouse on container schedules, shipments and inventory
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and trading terms
  • Maintain supplier files, costing data and QA documentation
  • Coordinate freight and logistics activity
  • Support backorder and transfer reports across branches
As you settle in, you’ll take on more responsibility with overseas supplier management, with some travel potentially required.

You’ll also have the chance to help implement AI tools within the ERP system and contribute to new product development and R&D projects.

What you’ll need to succeed

We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of the broader supply chain who enjoys a mix of structure and flexibility.
You’ll bring:
  • 3+ years’ experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain (manufacturing, plastics, or engineering environment ideal)
  • Exposure to overseas procurement and supplier negotiations
  • Strong commercial and cost analysis skills
  • ERP experience (Nexus preferred, or similar system)
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, adaptable approach — this business doesn’t run on rigid processes, so you’ll enjoy thinking on your feet
If you’re energetic, commercially savvy, and keen to grow your career in procurement with genuine exposure across local and international supply chains, this is an opportunity to step up and make a real impact.

What you'll get in return
  • Career development: Learn directly from an experienced manager and gain end-to-end supply chain exposure
  • Global experience: Opportunity to regularly engage global suppliers, and potentially the scope to travel in time
  • Modern tools: Be part of the rollout of AI-driven ERP systems and procurement automation
  • Variety: Work across local and overseas procurement, logistics, and supplier management
  • Supportive team: Family-owned culture with strong leadership and a focus on people
  • Attractive remuneration package - dependent on experience and background
