The Rostering Officer is responsible for the accurate and efficient coordination of staff rosters to ensure service delivery requirements are met at all times. This role plays a critical part in balancing operational needs, employee availability, compliance requirements, and cost effectiveness. The Rostering Officer works closely with management, staff, and stakeholders to manage day-to-day roster changes, leave, and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and publish staff rosters in line with operational requirements
- Ensure adequate staffing coverage while managing costs and compliance
- Manage roster changes due to leave, sickness, emergencies, or operational needs
- Liaise with staff regarding availability, shift changes, and coverage requests
- Monitor and manage leave balances, overtime, and shift allocations
- Ensure rosters comply with relevant awards, agreements, legislation, and policies
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in rostering and payroll systems
- Respond promptly to staffing issues during rostered hours (7am–3pm)
- Communicate effectively with managers to forecast staffing needs
- Prepare reports related to staffing, hours worked, and roster efficiency
- Support continuous improvement of rostering processes and systems
Essential:
- Previous experience in rostering, scheduling, or workforce coordination
- Strong organisational and time management skills

- Proficiency in rostering systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
