Our client is a manufacturing and packaging business based in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
The Role
This is a newly created position designed to strengthen the finance team and support the Finance Lead.
As Senior Accountant, you will be the 2IC to the Finance Lead, responsible for delivering accurate reporting, driving process and systems improvement, and helping elevate the capability of the broader finance team.
This is a broad, hands-on position that blends management accounting and financial accounting, offering excellent exposure across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Finance Lead in day-to-day financial management and leadership of the accounting team.
- Assist with preparation of monthly management reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Oversee transactional functions (AP/AR) and ensure accuracy of ledgers and reconciliations.
- Prepare financial and management reports, analysis, and commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Partner with operations to provide insights into cost drivers, margins, and efficiency improvements.
- Contribute to the setup and enhancement of reporting platforms using Microsoft Dynamics and Microsoft Analytics.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities across finance and reporting functions.
- Act as deputy to the Finance Lead, stepping in where required to maintain continuity and leadership.
- Degree qualified in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.
- CA/CPA qualified (or working towards completion).
- 6–8 years’ post-graduation experience in accounting roles, ideally within manufacturing, supply chain, FMCG, or similar industries.
- Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems and strong system aptitude.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for process improvement.
- Hands-on, detail-oriented, and proactive approach to work.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across departments.
