We are currently partnering a leading Australian industrial manufacturing group to recruit a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to join their finance team on an initial 6-month contract. This role will play a key part in strengthening fixed asset accounting processes, improving data integrity and supporting better governance across capital expenditure and asset management. Working closely with finance, systems and operational teams, you will investigate asset accounting issues, improve processes and help standardise fixed asset practices across multiple business entities.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and enhance the accuracy of the group’s Fixed Asset Register across multiple entities
  • Ensure asset additions, disposals, transfers and depreciation are recorded correctly
  • Reconcile fixed asset data to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies
  • Analyse historical asset transactions to identify inconsistencies and accounting issues
  • Investigate clearing accounts and capital project allocations to ensure financial accuracy
  • Support governance around CAPEX approvals, capitalisation and asset lifecycle management
  • Assist in establishing consistent asset accounting policies and procedures across the group
  • Work with finance, business analysts and IT teams to improve ERP fixed asset processes and workflows
  • Review and simplify complex Excel-based reporting and reconciliation models
  • Introduce standard templates and improve transparency of calculations and reporting
  • Support the rollout of improved processes and provide guidance to stakeholders on asset coding and governance
  
About You
  • CA or CPA qualified with a degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Significant experience in fixed asset or financial accounting environments
  • Strong knowledge of asset capitalisation, depreciation and reconciliation processes
  • Experience working with large ERP finance systems in multi-entity organisations
  • Advanced Excel skills, including large dataset analysis and complex reconciliations
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate issues and identify root causes
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with finance, systems and operational stakeholders
