This is an exciting opportunity 6 month contract role, with the view for an extension.
The Opportunity
As the Senior Financial Accountant, you will support the Group Financial Controller and play a pivotal role in this high performing Finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Prepare annual and half-yearly financial reports
- Analyze the impact of new accounting standards and present technical accounting papers
- Manage AASB 16 lease accounting entries and analysis
- Handle accounting for Group transactions
- Prepare weekly/monthly/ad-hoc journal entries for P&L and Balance Sheet accuracy
- Oversee month-end processes and ensure accuracy of reconciliations
- Prepare sections of the monthly board pack slides
- Forecast and budget for group expenses
- Conduct general ledger analysis, identify variances, and provide commentary
- Prepare reports, reconciliations, and schedules for external audits
- Coordinate with finance and non-finance stakeholders
- Lead and drive process improvements across the business
- Execute day-to-day treasury deals
- Draft semi-annual covenant calculations and compliance certificates
- Implement and maintain an effective control environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting
- CPA/CA (or studying towards) desirable
- Big 4 experience (previous or current) highly advantageous
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing direct reports
- Proficiency in TM1 (financial reporting) and BPCS (accounting ERP) is preferred
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into business insights
- Understanding of stakeholder engagement
- Problem-framing and influencing skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel proficiency
