Our client is a multinational organisation which provides critical services to the medical and health industry here in Australia. Owned by one of the world's largest and most prestigious Universities, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join the business in an initial 3 month contract role.
The Role - Reporting To The Financial Controller
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare monthly financial reports including balance sheet, profit & loss, cash flow statements, cost centre reporting, and P&L reporting by country, providing analysis of key variances and business performance.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including complex income reconciliations, sub-ledger close oversight, journal postings (payroll, accruals, prepayments), intercompany reconciliations, and account reconciliations.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely follow-up and resolution of reconciling items and review points.
- Coordinate and manage the year-end audit process, liaising with internal stakeholders, external auditors, accountants, and shareholders as required.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, procedures, and relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, assisting with preparation, analysis, and review in collaboration with the FP&A function.
- Provide business partnering support to General Managers and Senior Managers, delivering insights to support decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems, processes, and reporting, supporting finance system improvements and integration activities.
- Provide support, guidance, coaching, and direction to direct reports and other finance team members.
- Perform additional finance, reporting, and process improvement activities aligned with the scope of the role as required.
Skills & Experience
We’re seeking a CA/ACCA/CPA-qualified professional (or part qualified) with at least 5 years’ experience in financial accounting, ideally with a chartered upbringing that has built strong technical foundations. You will have exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in a multinational business will be highly advantageous.
