About the Role:
Our client, a leading plastic product manufacturer, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Industrial Designer to join their dynamic product team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in designing plastic storage products tailored for the Australia, UK, NZ, and EU markets. This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative designer who thrives on creating commercially viable solutions that meet strict standards and consumer needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop plastic storage products suitable for the Australia, UK, NZ, and EU markets.
• Create consumer-led, innovative product design solutions that align with commercial viability.
• Ensure all newly designed products comply with relevant manufacturing standards, quality assurance regulations, and brand expectations.
• Manage multiple projects at various stages, adhering to a strict project management process and structure.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to bring designs from concept to production.
• Contribute to the design process consisting of product/material research, IP searches, concept development, prototyping, testing, and validating.
• Provide technical assistance related to product, design & manufacturing to all stakeholders and departments
• Maintain a strong understanding of the associated costs of design for manufacture.

Requirements:

• Expertise in 3D CAD software, with proficiency in SolidWorks being highly preferred.
• Proven experience in design for manufacture, with a strong understanding of cost implications.
• Ability to multitask across several projects simultaneously.
• Experience in detailed design and basic mechanical engineering e.g. moving parts, seal interference, etc.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques including injection moulding, overmoulding, PP moulding, etc.
• Excellent knowledge of material characteristics and properties including, polymers and other materials.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to follow a structured process.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating innovative and functional designs.
