You will join a well‑resourced People & Safety function with clear executive backing to lift safety performance and embed consistent standards across the network.

About the Role
Reporting into the Head of Safety and working closely with the General Manager - Supply Chain, this national role leads risk, safety and wellbeing across a multi‑site distribution centre network. Based at the flagship, highly automated DC in Melbourne, you will own the design, implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System for Supply Chain, ensuring compliance, lifting standards and driving a step‑change in safety culture. You will partner closely with DC/Ops Managers, People & Safety, Procurement and external partners to move the network from reactive to proactive, integrating safety into day‑to‑day operations rather than treating it as a bolt‑on.

Duties
· Lead implementation of the Supply Chain safety and risk strategy
· Embed and standardise the SMS across all national DC locations
· Identify, assess and control key risks (MHE, DG, automation, transport)
· Oversee safety reporting, incident trends and corrective actions via Donesafe
· Design and deliver practical training, with a focus on MHE and DC risks
· Review and improve safe work practices, SOPs and contractor controls
· Conduct and document regular safety walks and site engagement activities
· Partner with DC/Ops Managers to integrate safety into daily operations
· Liaise with regulators, manage audits and respond to inspections
· Prepare clear, data‑driven safety reports for senior leadership

Skills and Experience
· WHS / risk‑related qualification (Cert IV, Diploma or tertiary)
· Background in warehousing, logistics, transport or DC‑heavy supply chains
· Proven experience in a regional or national safety / risk leadership role
· Strong knowledge of WHS/OHS and heavy vehicle / logistics obligations
· Demonstrated capability in risk assessment and incident investigation
· Experience managing audits and engaging with regulatory authorities
· Track record embedding safety initiatives in large, complex operations
· Confident communicator, able to influence at floor and executive levels
· Skilled user of safety systems and data to drive decisions (e.g. Donesafe)
· Hands‑on, practical style; able to “see the issues” on the floor and prioritise
· Approachable, firm‑but‑fair coach focused on people change and culture

Benefits
· High‑impact national role based in a flagship, highly automated DC
· Strong executive sponsorship and investment in safety and systems
· Opportunity to build and shape safety culture across a multi‑site network
· Competitive salary package with genuine career development pathways
· Supportive, flexible business with reasonable, planned national travel
