The role:
Directly reporting to the IT Operations Lead, this position provides the administration, maintenance and support of highly technical IT infrastructure. With an emphasis on Windows server, Windows SOE, and  Virtualisation and desktop infrastructure. The position provides level 2/3 technical expertise across IT systems, and the provision of level 2/3 support to existing IT service desk staff. This position also provides IT project coordination and administration services.
 
The role responsibilities: 
  • Providing Level 2 & 3 support and administration/operations of the network, server and storage environments (Dell Hosts, VMWare Hypervisor, Windows Server/Exchange/SQL environments, Active Directory, etc)
  • General understanding and basic administration of network environment (primarily Cisco-based), and Telstra TPN
  • Operations and administration of desktop environment and Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
  • Manage and support Microsoft Office 365
  • Management of IT monitoring environment (Manage Engine OpManager) to classify and monitor IT assets and provide appropriate thresholds and alerts
  • Identifying and resolving repetitive issues and subsequent underlying problems which may be contributing to ongoing issues
  • Maintenance and administration of the IT mobile device management platform (AirWatch).
  • Undertaking maintenance or upgrade works outside of normal working hours where required in order to minimise user downtime
  • Management of any external suppliers/vendors in the delivery of support services required to meet operational requirements.
  • Engagement with business stakeholders to identify potential IT solutions to meet business needs.
  • Creation of general IT documentation and training materials, IT knowledge-base articles to ensure IT staff have access to appropriate material for administering deployed systems.
  • Manage assigned projects to ensure they are delivered on time, on budget and fit for purpose.

Your essential Skills: 
  • Strong Windows Server administration skills.
  • Demonstrated 3-5 years experience working within a similar role
  • Current valid drivers’ licence
  • Strong level of competency providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd level IT support and systems administration
  • Familiarity in the administration of Microsoft based servers, VMWare and Office 365
  • Current experience and proven proficiency in the administration and maintenance of Microsoft Active Directory and Exchange servers
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

Desirable Skills: 
  • Strong Group Policy, Command Level interface (Powershell/SQL etc.) and Active Directory experience.
  • Industry certifications in Microsoft, Cisco or similar certifications
  • Installation and configuration of Microsoft Systems such as Active Directory, Exchange or SQL servers
  • Very good conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to facilitate ideas generation and problem resolution
  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure) desirable
