The Role

You will lead the end-to-end development and procurement of product ranges across multiple categories. Reporting to the Head of Merchandise and working closely with the Head of Design, you will drive product performance through strategic alignment, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor an assistant on product development initiatives and critical path timelines.
  • Own the product development process in collaboration with Design, Buying, and Planning teams.
  • Oversee sourcing strategies and supplier partnerships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Drive costing negotiations and margin optimisation across all product categories.
  • Ensure data integrity across systems and manage smooth handover to internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Brand Manager to align product ranges with seasonal direction and market trends.
  • Oversee packaging development, artwork approvals, and compliance with brand standards.
  • Manage quality control processes and ensure compliance with Australian standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and sample libraries.
  • Support range launches with product training tools, selling guides, and marketing collateral.
Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience in product development, buying, or sourcing—ideally within homewares, lifestyle, or FMCG/hardgoods categories.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring. 
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of managing costs, margins, and supplier negotiations.
  • Deep understanding of product lifecycles from concept to market.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and product/order management systems.
