About the Position
Reporting to the Group Manager City Water, this key position leads and manages the Unit for the reporting systems and regulated responsibilities of Council's water, wastewater and waste environmental and drinking water quality services. The position is responsible for the compliance, reporting systems and regulated responsibilities, and consultancy and advice to internal and external customers and stakeholders.

The role will lead a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for several key accountabilities including: Managing the trade waste program, discharge assessment and environmental compliance; Managing water quality incidents and emergencies and providing specialist water quality advice to both internal and external stakeholders; Developing and implementing the Integrated Environmental Management System and Environmental Approvals; as well as overseeing the units operational and capital budgets.

About the Person
We are seeking an experienced, practical and forward thinking leader who brings strong awareness of Australian drinking water quality guidelines, health parameters, and how to proactively manage water distribution systems – this will include understanding regulated water, wastewater and waste environmental compliance and reporting systems in a similar environment, and a detailed understanding of environmental management systems developed to ISO14001. You will be able to demonstrate leading and motivating diverse teams, driving accountability, and be able to build rapport and work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders with a collaborative style. You bring a pragmatic approach to problem solving and a continuous improvement mindset.

You will hold relevant qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or other relevant environmental compliance / regulatory qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
