This is not a traditional Test Manager role.
You’ll be stepping into a greenfield-style capability uplift, leading the design and implementation of test automation and test data management practices that will underpin a large-scale transition from a legacy core platform to a modern multi-SaaS ecosystem.
Working closely with the Project Manager and broader transformation teams, you will bring clarity to complexity—establishing the guardrails, frameworks, and strategy that will enable multiple delivery streams to operate cohesively and deliver quality outcomes at scale.
This role is responsible for ensuring that as new systems “land”, they do so on a well-governed, scalable, and high-quality testing foundation. You’ll operate as a senior SME and capability leader, helping shape both the immediate roadmap and the longer-term testing strategy across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the uplift of enterprise testing capability, with a focus on automation and test data management
- Define and implement “no-regret” guardrails for how testing is delivered across multiple programs
- Partner with delivery teams to determine what should be automated vs manual, driving efficiency at scale
- Establish frameworks for test data management, including data synthesis, obfuscation, and governance (PII considerations)
- Work closely with the Project Manager to support initiation, planning, and business case development
- Assess current-state capabilities and identify gaps in tooling, processes, and operating models
- Contribute to procurement decisions for testing tools and services
- Build strong relationships across workstreams, influencing and aligning multiple Test Leads/Managers
- Provide leadership and direction in a fast-moving, evolving environment where progress over perfection is key
- Proven experience as a Test Manager in large-scale transformation or uplift programs
- Deep expertise in test automation frameworks and strategy
- Strong understanding of test data management practices (including synthetic data and privacy considerations)
- Experience building or uplifting testing capability (not just operating within BAU environments)
- Ability to operate as a strategic leader and hands-on SME
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence across multiple delivery streams
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and complexity, bringing clarity and structure where needed
- A collaborative, pragmatic mindset—someone who can navigate chaos and drive outcomes
- Be part of a once-in-a-generation transformation within a critical Queensland organisation
- Shape the future state of testing capability across the enterprise
- Work alongside experienced transformation leaders in a high-impact, visible role
- Genuine opportunity to leave a legacy capability, not just deliver a project
