Sharp & Carter are partnering with a leading professional services firm to recruit a Trust Accounting Manager on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role is responsible for overseeing all trust accounting functions and ensuring full compliance with relevant trust regulations.
This is a pivotal role within the finance function, managing the firm’s trust accounts end-to-end while leading and mentoring Trust Accounting Officers. It will suit a technically strong trust accounting professional who enjoys ownership, stakeholder engagement, and working in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all transactions associated with the firm’s trust accounts, ensuring compliance with trust accounting obligations.
- Manage trust to office and trust to trust transfers, receipting, payments, refunds, dormant balances, and unclaimed monies.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly trust reconciliations, including bank and investment account reconciliations.
- Monitor and resolve unpresented payments and trust discrepancies, reporting breaches or irregularities where required.
- Prepare and lodge trust documentation with relevant authorities in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with trust account auditors and law society investigators to ensure compliant audit and inspection outcomes.
- Maintain and update documented trust accounting processes and controls.
- Supervise, train, and mentor Trust Accounting Officers to ensure high standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training to practice staff on trust accounting processes and obligations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trust accounting legislation across relevant jurisdictions.
- Minimum 5+ years’ trust accounting experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing trust accounts, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Experience with legal or financial practice management systems.
- Demonstrated leadership capability with experience supervising and mentoring team members.
