Sharp & Carter is delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded Australian organisation to appoint a talented Workplace Relations Specialist. This is not a purely reactive ER role. You will be a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, delivering commercially balanced, pragmatic and compliant employee relations guidance while helping shape enterprise-wide ER/IR capability and frameworks.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Employee Relations Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of complex and high-risk employee and industrial relations matters across a large, multi-site workforce.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading complex ER cases, investigations and dispute resolution matters
  • Providing expert advice across employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreements
  • Partnering closely with senior leaders and HR on sensitive and confidential issues
  • Identifying trends, mitigating risk and proactively strengthening governance
  • Coaching and uplifting leaders and HR teams to build ER capability
  • Ensuring best-practice documentation, compliance and process integrity

About You
You are a confident, commercially astute ER professional with sound judgement and the credibility to influence at senior levels. You are calm under pressure, solutions-focused and able to balance risk with practical business outcomes.

You will bring:
  • Strong knowledge of Australian employment and industrial relations legislation
  • Proven experience managing complex investigations and high-risk matters
  • The ability to operate independently in dynamic, high-pressure settings
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to act with pace while maintaining exceptional attention to detail
Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree in Law, HR, Industrial Relations or related discipline 
  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in a specialist ER role
  • Experience within large, complex organisations highly regarded
  • Strong exposure to compliance, governance and risk management
