We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Accountant to join a high-performing Shared Services team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working across multiple business units to deliver accurate financial reporting and support strategic decision-making.
The responsibilities
As a Financial Accountant, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of financial functions, including:
Advertising & Promotion, Co-operative Advertising, and Customer Pricing
- Review and validate proposals to ensure alignment with business plans and budget availability.
- Monitor supplier expenditures and internal stock requests to ensure compliance with pre-approved commitments.
- Reconcile general ledger balances and maintain tracking sheets for advertising and promotional activities.
- Liaise with marketing teams to manage year-end carryovers and provide financial recommendations.
- Maintain fringe benefit tax records related to promotional spending.
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Reconcile fixed assets to the general ledger monthly and prepare full book and tax registers for year-end.
- Support annual stocktakes and provide monthly asset purchase data for BAS reporting.
- Ensure timely processing of domestic and international expense claims in line with company travel policies.
- Provide support to business units on expense-related queries and ensure compliance with internal guidelines.
- Prepare monthly provision journals with supporting documentation across advertising, personnel costs, and fixed assets.
- Complete reconciliations and ensure payroll-related accounts are accurate and up to date.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements and escalate issues as needed.
- Support team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all company policies including WH&S, Code of Conduct, SOX compliance, and Information Security.
- Participate in safety audits, training, and ensure risk controls are documented and implemented.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business
- 2–3 years’ experience in a similar financial accounting role
- Strong general ledger reconciliation and ERP systems experience
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy in checking invoices and expenses
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and deliver results under pressure
