The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant will play a key role in the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role offers exposure across accounts payable, receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and month-end processes, while contributing to process improvements and supporting broader finance initiatives.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- End-to-end accounts payable and receivable processing, reconciliations, and reporting
- Assisting with payroll processing, including timesheets and leave management
- Daily and weekly bank reconciliations
- Month-end support including accruals, prepayments, and account reconciliations
- Supporting the preparation of invoices, payments, and reporting packs
- Assisting with finance process documentation and ad-hoc reporting
- General financial and administrative support to the Finance team
The ideal candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, and be working toward (or planning to commence) CA/CPA. You will bring at least 2 years’ experience in financial administration, bookkeeping, or an Assistant Accountant role.
Key skills and experience:
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and ability to work with large data sets
- Excellent reconciliation, numeracy, and analytical ability
- High attention to detail and accuracy with figures
- Organised and methodical with strong administrative skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with accounting software (ECI M1 advantageous)
- A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to manage deadlines
