The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Assistant Accountant to join a collaborative shared services finance team.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will support the financial operations across multiple entities within the group. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their work, and is looking to further develop their accounting career within a stable and growing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow reporting
- Perform monthly general ledger reconciliations in line with reporting requirements
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including annual budget preparation
- Prepare and lodge BAS and assist with other statutory compliance requirements
- Maintain fixed asset registers and lease accounting schedules
- Assist with year-end processes and liaise with external auditors
- Prepare and support FBT returns, TPAR reporting, and other compliance obligations
- Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making
- Work closely with accounts teams to coordinate day-to-day financial operations
- Assist with process improvements and ad hoc finance projects as required
- 2–4 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role
- Ideal for a candidate coming from a Chartered environment
- Degree-qualified in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Working towards or intending to commence CA/CPA (preferred)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator who can engage with stakeholders across the business
- Proactive, team-oriented, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Intermediate Excel skills and exposure to ERP systems
