About the role
Leading a large finance team, you will form a critical part of the Institute’s senior leadership team.  You will play an important role in setting the strategic agenda, driving transformational change of the Institute and finance function, managing performance, ensuring financial control and integrity, delivering on financial reporting requirements and managing financial compliance and risk.  You will also be responsible for driving process improvement and operational performance by challenging the status quo and identifying and executing on opportunities for greater efficiency and quality of management information, budgeting and forecasting processes, and support the development of robust and high quality business cases.
  
Duties
  • Developing, implementing and managing the strategic direction of the finance function
  • Driving business planning, budgeting and forecasting
  • Providing high quality KPI, financial and operational reporting and analysis
  • Providing strategic financial advice and reporting to the Board and senior leadership team
  • Ongoing oversight and improvement of financial controls, systems and processes
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, tax and regulatory obligations and requirements
  • Managing key external relationships for the Institute including those with banks, auditors and advisors
  • Leading, motivating and empowering the finance team to ensure a high quality and stable function
  • Supporting the Board, Institute Director, COO and Senior Leadership with ad hoc project work as required
  
  
Skills and Experience
You are CA/CPA qualified, and have compiled an impressive track record and reputation as a high achieving finance leader.  You have highly developed technical accounting skills and commercial acumen, along with proven experience managing complex and high level stakeholder relationships.  You are a big picture thinker who is able to reason at a conceptual level and drive change, while still maintaining a strong attention to detail.  Crucially, you are a natural leader with a strong depth of experience in managing large teams, and have the confidence and credibility to engage effectively and build relationships at Board level, and with senior executives and operational stakeholders.  While not essential, previous experience in a Not For Profit organisation will be highly regarded.
