The position is technical and infrastructure-focused, with an emphasis on radio systems, networking, systems administration and providing back-to-back support on a 7x7 roster.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and resolve issues with digital UHF radio systems, including repeaters, duplexers, antenna systems, digital modes and RF interference.
- Maintain and optimise radio communication systems, including diagnosing issues caused by environmental factors, equipment faults or configuration problems.
- Work with suppliers and external specialists to resolve complex RF and radio equipment issues.
- Troubleshoot and maintain network services to prevent and resolve outages that impact production.
- Diagnose Wi-Fi connectivity issues, routing problems and switching-related faults.
- Support and maintain network infrastructure including routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, QoS and IP addressing.
- Manage and troubleshoot firewalls (such as Sophos, Fortinet or Cisco), including rule sets, VPNs, policies and connectivity issues.
- Support Windows and Linux server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP roles, file servers and general service management.
- Assist with Microsoft Azure/Entra ID including virtual machines, networking configuration, backups, site-to-site VPNs and identity/access management.
- Provide back-to-back technical troubleshooting alongside the IT Manager.
- Lead or assist with small technical projects from planning through deployment.
- Liaise with vendors and service providers to resolve escalated or specialised issues.
- Experience working with digital UHF radio systems and RF diagnostics.
- Strong understanding of networking principles including routing, switching and core network services.
- Experience with firewalls and basic network security concepts.
- Experience with Windows and Linux server administration.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or Entra ID.
