The Company
A major Australian distribution and wholesale group is seeking an experienced and technically strong Financial Controller to lead the finance function for one of its largest operating divisions. With a strong network of retail partners nationally and revenue in the multi-billions, this is a critical leadership role responsible for the accuracy, financial discipline and integrity of divisional reporting across their national network. 

The Role
This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in hands-on environments and brings deep technical accounting capability, strong systems thinking, and experience in high-volume, multi-site businesses. You will work closely with the CFO and senior leadership team to ensure financial accuracy, operational rigour and continuous improvement across the division.

Key Responsibilities 
  • Own the month-end close process and deliver accurate reporting to all Profit Centre Managers.
  • Lead balance sheet integrity, sub-ledger reviews and fixed asset compliance.
  • Coordinate year-end close, external audit requests and annual FBT processes.
  • Manage preparation of income tax schedules and submissions to Group Finance.
  • Drive improvements in reporting, financial workflows and internal controls.
  • Lead, develop and coach the financial accounting and AP team. 
  • Drive a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships across both operational and group functions.
About You
This is a hands-on, detail-oriented financial control role that requires exceptional technical grounding, the ability to work in the ledger and capability to uplift processes and systems in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You will bring:
  • Strong technical accounting foundation (CA/CPA).
  • Deep debits/credits understanding and comfort working at ledger level
  • ERP or systems implementation/upgrade experience.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to lead teams in complex, high volume, decentralised or multi-site environments
  • Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving capability.
