General Manager of Technology

The primary objective of this exciting senior executive role of General Manager of Technology is to provide our clients IT with strategic direction, delivery capability and service operations, and to help meet broader strategic aims.
The GM Technology leads the function that improves our client’s capabilities through IT architecture, governance, project delivery, service delivery, process improvement and innovation.  This role ensures the company is developing the IT assets and capabilities needed to thrive in the mid to long term.
  
Development and management of IT strategy
  • Develop an effective strategy for the IT portfolio that supports attainment of strategic goals
  • Establish and implement IT goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures
  • Identity and develop innovative IT options that support business needs
  • Establishment and implement a ~3-year IT roadmap
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that may be considered
  • Own the enterprise IT Architecture applications and security to ensure it remains relevant, current and aligns with the IT roadmap, business objectives and strategy
Operational function 
  • Manage Information Technology across the organisation and make recommendations on improvements and growth
  • Establish and review IT Service Levels as required
  • Drive and assume responsibility for compliance matters relating to the activities of the IT portfolio
  • Manage IT incidents and problem management
  • Manage IT change management
  • Act as the advisor for IT in organisational discussions
IT Compliance and Risk Management
  • Provide strategic advice to management to ensure issues such as cyber and data security and legislative compliance are understood and appropriate policies are developed 
  • Maintain all support documentation associated with IT platforms, including Software Licences arrangement and vendor support agreements 
IT Vendor Management
  • Manage ongoing IT Vendor relationships 
  • Identify and manage the need to seek replacement Vendors when required 
Technology team management
  • Provide people management leadership through setting direction, monitoring, and developing performance, building morale, and generating a sense of common purpose
  • Take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, management, and support of the IT team, including recruitment, monitoring delivery against objectives, quality standards, personal development, coaching and appraisals
Requirements:
  • Minimum - Bachelor degree in Computer Science, MIS, Management, or similar discipline
  • Remains in touch with best practice ICT technology and business practices and balances new technology use with practical delivery and usage
  • Knowledge of Operating systems, SOE, O365Office Suite, Software licencing, Networks (WAN, LAN), network security, system monitoring, Telco services, SaaS and IaaS, ERP, PRONTO
  • Ability to evaluate technologies and make recommendations associated with those technologies. 
  • Knowledge and expertise in IT service life-cycle management models and frameworks (e.g., ITIL, COBIT)
  • Knowledge and expertise in Project Management models and frameworks (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile)
