Health, Safety & Quality Manager

Job title : Health, Safety & Quality Manager
Location : Victoria
Job type : Permanent or Full Time
Job reference : 1660829
Are you a hands-on safety leader who thrives in complex, blue-collar environments?

This is a newly evolved opportunity for a seasoned Health, Safety & Quality professional to take ownership of the safety and quality function for a growing national business in the utilities and construction sector.

The Opportunity
This standalone role will see you lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of safety, health, environment and quality systems across a fast-paced and expanding organisation of 300 employees (including contractors).

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the next phase of the organisation’s safety strategy, balancing strategic thinking with operational delivery. With an FY26 plan already in motion, the successful candidate will have the mandate to refine, validate, and drive forward the safety and quality roadmap for the future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the company’s Health, Safety & Quality frameworks.
  • Conduct gap and data analysis, turning insights into actionable plans and improved reporting.
  • Partner closely with site leaders and supervisors, providing practical guidance and on-the-ground coaching.
  • Oversee ISO certification programs (9001, 45001, 14001) and lead internal/external audits.
  • Validate and streamline TRIFR and safety metrics, ensuring accurate data and meaningful reporting.
  • Drive engagement across all levels - from toolbox talks to executive meetings -promoting a proactive safety culture.
  • Support incident investigations, risk management and audit schedules, ensuring compliance and continual improvement.
  • Champion simplification of SWMS and safety documentation, ensuring relevance and usability.
About You
You’re a confident, collaborative safety leader who can operate autonomously while building trust across the organisation. You’ll enjoy being out in the field as much as influencing in the boardroom, credible, practical and driven by meaningful impact.

You will bring:
  • Proven experience in a senior HSEQ leadership role within a blue-collar or multi-site environment nationally.
  • Strong understanding of WHS legislation, risk management, and ISO quality systems.
  • Experience working closely with trades or field-based teams (plumbing, construction, utilities highly regarded).
  • Ability to simplify systems and communicate safety in a relatable, practical way.
  • Confidence engaging across all levels - from senior executives to site supervisors.
  • Strong data literacy and ability to use metrics to inform decisions and improvements.
  • Relevant WHS qualifications and Lead Auditor certification (highly regarded).
Culture & Environment
You’ll be joining a genuinely supportive and down-to-earth People & Culture team that values humour, collaboration, and authenticity. The environment is non-hierarchical and inclusive - everyone takes ownership, helps one another, and celebrates success along the way.

The business prides itself on delivering outstanding internal service, taking safety seriously without losing sight of its people-first culture.

Why This Role
This is an ideal opportunity for someone ready to take the reins - to lead both strategy and delivery, influence across the business, and make a tangible difference in safety performance and culture.

If you’re ready to bring energy, structure and leadership to a growing organisation - while staying true to a hands-on, approachable style - we’d love to hear from you!
