About the role

Due to significant business growth and a merger with CDA Health in late 2021, we are seeking to appoint an In House Legal Counsel who will play an integral role not only in the day-to-day operation of the business, but who will also have significant input on complex project and strategy based work.
  
Reporting directly to the CEO and CFO, you will be a trusted advisor and partner across the company and Board, and play a significant role in providing results-focused commercial legal solutions. No two days will be the same, but some of the activities you can expect to play a part in are:
  • Developing, drafting and negotiating a range of contracts (including supply, master services, partner, supplier, customer agreements, CDA and NDA).
  • Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents effectively managing risk.
  • End to end involvement in the lifecycle of Federal / State licenses and supply agreements. 
  • Managing relevant legislative and regulatory updates throughout jurisdictions in which Cronos Australia operates.
  • Apply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advice on possible legal issues.
  • Management of external legal counsel as required.
  • Ad hoc support to Company Secretary in corporate governance matters as required.
  • Managing relationships with external regulators.
  • Participate and contribute to special projects for the CEO and CFO, as needed.
About you

Likely at 5+ years PQE, you could already be in private practice thinking about that “first move in house”, or a Legal Counsel seeking a new challenge in an exciting industry. Either way we know you will have some great skills to bring to the table based on your general commercial legal experience.  This is a highly diverse role and while experience within a regulated environment may be helpful, we encourage applicants from commercial private practice and in house environments to apply.

Some of the skills and experience you may have acquired that will help you succeed in ths role are:
  • 5+ years PQE and a valid practising certificate in Australia.
  • Excellent commercial contract drafting and negotiating skills.
  • Sound commercial reasoning and the ability to explain often complex legal issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Comfortable working independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
