An innovative engineering business on the lookout for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join the business on a 6 month contract, in order to drive technical excellence and deliver high-quality mechanical component and assembly designs. This dynamic role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is ready to take ownership of challenging engineering projects from concept to manufacture.
The Role
Drive the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies and components by applying advanced engineering principles and manufacturing expertise, lead a team of Mechanical/CAD engineers in delivering industry-leading designs using SolidWorks, ensure technical documentation and manufacturing drawings meet the highest standards, and collaborate with workshop technicians and suppliers to achieve project goals on time and on budget, all while playing a key role in design reviews and quality assurance through tolerance analysis and rigorous documentation.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering with a track record of design excellence.
- Proven expertise in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and experience across a breadth of manufacturing processes for plastics and metals, including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and precision machining.
- Strong background in developing electro-mechanical or automation solutions, ideally within high-performance engineering environments.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills, coupled with personal drive and attention to detail.
