This is a newly created role designed to support the Production Supervisor and provide strong on-the-floor leadership across a single production line. With the site continuing to expand and optimise operations, this position plays a key role in ensuring daily production targets, quality standards and safety outcomes are consistently achieved.
You will step into an already established team environment, taking ownership of line performance and acting as the go-to leader on shift on behalf of the Production Supervisor. You will be leading a team of 7 on a new, state of the art production line.
About the Role
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for running a high-speed FMCG production line manufacturing food-grade products.
The line has been operational for approximately two years. There is an already established production team of 7 - a mix between tenured and newer employees.
You will oversee daily line performance, coordinate operators, troubleshoot issues and ensure food safety and quality standards are always maintained. The role acts as the 2IC to the Production Supervisor, providing structure and accountability across the team and ensuring smooth operations during periods of limited supervision.
With plans to scale the site's manufacturing operations, this role offers genuine long-term growth potential within a global business.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily stand ups and toolbox talks
- Lead and coordinate production team members during the day shift
- Take ownership of line performance
- Ensure production targets, efficiency metrics and downtime minimisation are achieved
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues in collaboration with maintenance and operations
- Maintain adherence to food safety, HACCP and GMP standards
- Provide structure, direction and on-the-floor coaching for operators
- Step in as acting lead when the Production Supervisor is unavailable
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise line output and team capability
You are an experienced Leading Hand or Senior Operator within FMCG manufacturing who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
You will likely bring:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a people leadership role within a manufacturing site (ideally having led at least 4-5 people)
- Background in FMCG manufacturing (food, beverage, packaging preferred, or any volume product). An understanding of HACCP and GMP will be highly regarded
- Proven ability to run and troubleshoot a production line independently
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to structure workflow and manage team accountability
- A proactive, hands-on leadership style
- Strong problem-solving capability and mechanical aptitude
- A team-focused mindset with clear communication skills
- Day shift role 6am-2pm in a growing manufacturing facility
