The Company & Role
We are partnering with a highly regarded, service-based organisation with a long-standing national presence to recruit an interim Senior Financial Accountant. This role will act as the 2IC to the Finance Manager and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting business performance, and driving process improvements across the finance function. You will be a hands-on technical expert while also partnering with stakeholders across operations and group finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
- Complete month end close journals ensuring compliance including the provision of supporting calculations and relevant documentation
- Review month end results including the provision of insightful and meaningful commentary on variances against relevant metrics
- Prepare consolidated financial statements, statutory reports, and group submissions
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations, journals, and intercompany transactions
- Support tax compliance, including BAS, FBT, GST, and liaise with external advisors where required
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls, and reporting systems
- Partner with commercial finance and operational teams to provide financial insights and analysis
- Support external audits and ensure adherence to corporate governance requirements
Your Profile
- CA/CPA qualified with 4–6 years’ experience in a similar role within financial accounting.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, consolidations, statutory reporting)
- Experience within complex, multisubsidiary businesses highly regarded
- Proactive, detail-oriented, with strong stakeholder engagement skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a continuous improvement mindset
