A well-established, operationally complex organisation within the logistics and infrastructure sector is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join its finance team. Operating across decentralised sites, the business plays a critical role in supporting large-scale operations and prides itself on collaboration, continuous improvement and strong governance. The Role
Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, this Senior Financial Accountant role will support accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance and the integrity of financial systems and processes. You will work closely with operational and finance stakeholders, contribute to process improvements and mentor junior team members. This role suits a hands-on accountant who enjoys ownership, structure and working in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial reports for decentralised and branch-based operations
- Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with FP&A
- Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with taxation obligations including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and income tax support
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Assist with fixed asset management and reporting
- Contribute to financial policies, procedures and internal controls
- Support ESG and NGER reporting requirements as required
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial understanding and processes
- Mentor and support junior finance staff
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks as required by senior finance leadership
- 3–5+ years’ experience in a financial or senior financial accounting role
- CPA or CA qualified (or near completion)
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge
- Experience working with ERP systems
- Perfect for someone coming from a chartered environment
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Confident communicator with the ability to work across operational teams
- Proactive, organised and comfortable managing competing deadlines
