This includes designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure components necessary for deploying and managing applications on the Azure cloud platform. The position is responsible for managing and optimising cloud costs, ensuring that the organisation's cloud usage is cost-efficient and aligns with financial goals.
Responsibilities include monitoring cloud expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, implementing cost-control strategies, and working with engineering and finance teams to forecast and manage cloud budgets.
This role requires expertise in Azure services, FinOps, infrastructure automation, and best practices for cloud infrastructure design.
To be considered, you must demonstrate the following:
- Experienced Cloud Engineer across complex hybrid enterprise-scale environments; cloud platforms, network/comms, distributed multi-site infrastructures, edge-computing and integration domains.
- Proficiency in cloud cost management and optimization, including experience with tools like Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer, Google Cloud’s or non-CSP tools like Cloudability Billing and Cost Management.
- Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting, and allocation strategies as they pertain to cloud computing costs.
- Experience in developing and implementing cost-saving strategies and policies, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and adherence to best practices in cloud financial operations.
- Assessing an organization's IT infrastructure to determine options for moving to the cloud
- Understanding of source control using Git and DevOps, experience with Infrastructure as Code / Terraform / CloudFormation and Automation.
- Experience within DevOps / Cloud Engineering capacity in larger, matrixed multi business unit’s environment.
