As part of their commitment to excellence, safety, and regulatory integrity, they are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support their Australian operations and act as a key conduit between local teams and global leadership.
About the Role:
In this high-impact position, you will serve as the lead legal advisor in Australia, supporting a dynamic and fast-growing subsidiary focused on organic infant formula and food products. You’ll provide commercially sound legal advice across the business, manage compliance frameworks, and collaborate directly with China-based headquarters and cross-functional stakeholders across legal, marketing, operations, and procurement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on all legal and regulatory matters relating to the manufacturing, marketing, and export of infant nutrition products.
- Ensure compliance with Australian consumer, food safety, corporate, employment, privacy, FIRB and advertising laws.
- Support global legal strategy in relation to cross-border IP, trade, and governance risks.
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements (including supply, distribution, licensing, and NDAs).
- Lead dispute management, regulatory investigations, and responses to statutory authorities.
- Design and implement localized risk and compliance frameworks aligned with global HQ policies.
- Collaborate closely with China-based legal and leadership teams on regional strategy and operations.
- Australian qualified lawyer with 7+ years PQE (law firm or in-house).
- Strong understanding of FMCG regulatory environments, ideally including food safety and consumer product law.
- Experience in cross-border legal work and interfacing with Asia-based business units.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (both written and spoken) – essential.
- Commercial mindset, pragmatic legal reasoning, and strong relationship-building skills.
- Able to work autonomously and influence at senior levels.
