About the Role:
As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide specialist legal and commercial support across the full lifecycle of renewable projects — from site acquisition and development approvals through to financing, construction, operations, and divestment. The role has a strong emphasis on M&A exposure within renewable projects, including supporting financing, joint ventures, and investment transactions, while also advising on construction, land, and grid connection agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of project and corporate agreements, including land access, construction, consultancy, financing, and shareholder/joint venture documents.
- Provide legal support for M&A and investment processes, ensuring projects are structured and executed to best practice standards.
- Advise on planning, environmental, and regulatory approvals relevant to renewable energy projects.
- Partner with commercial, technical, and project delivery teams to identify and mitigate risks.
- Stay across regulatory and market developments in the energy sector, adapting documentation and advice as required.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor, with admission to practice in Australia.
- Significant experience (approx. 8+ years) in energy, infrastructure, and M&A, either in-house or private practice.
- Demonstrated track record in renewable energy or major infrastructure projects, including exposure to M&A and investment transactions.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive and commercially minded, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
