A large, complex enterprise organisation is seeking an experienced Senior SOE Engineer to play a key role in shaping and continuously improving its modern workplace and endpoint environment.

This is a senior technical position suited to someone who enjoys owning the SOE end-to-end, driving standards, and improving the employee digital experience across a Microsoft-centric environment.
 
About the role
Reporting into the Desktop Support / Workplace Technology leadership team, the Senior SOE Engineer is responsible for the design, delivery and ongoing optimisation of the organisation's Standard Operating Environment (SOE) and endpoint management capability.
You will take ownership of key elements of the Microsoft workplace platform, ensuring secure, consistent and high-quality device builds, application delivery and endpoint standards across the enterprise. The role combines hands-on technical delivery with leadership, governance and continuous improvement.
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Define, review and maintain SOE standards and procedures across desktop and endpoint environments
  • Own Intune endpoint management, including policies, compliance, security baselines and update rings
  • Administer and maintain SOE standards and configuration profiles across Microsoft 365, Entra ID and Intune
  • Package, test and deploy applications via Intune (Win32 / PSADT), including pilot and production releases
  • Own and improve Windows Autopilot provisioning standards to support reliable device builds and onboarding
  • Define and manage the security update and patching lifecycle in line with organisational security policies
  • Drive endpoint reporting, proactive remediation and device health monitoring
  • Lead and resolve critical workplace technology incidents and outages
  • Deliver platform uplift initiatives and contribute to broader workplace technology transformation projects
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer within the workplace experience team
 
Skills & experience:
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior SOE / EUC / Endpoint Engineering role within a large enterprise environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
  • Proven background in SOE design, endpoint policy management and application packaging
  • Experience working in complex, 24x7 operational environments
  • Strong incident management, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to balance operational support with continuous improvement and project delivery
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in IT (or equivalent experience); industry certifications highly regarded
