This is a senior, standalone leadership role with full accountability for the organisation’s WHS framework, operating at both a strategic and operational level. The role is instrumental in embedding safety into everyday decision-making, shifting the organisation beyond compliance toward a mature, commercially aligned safety culture.
You will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, influencing safety outcomes at scale while supporting operational performance across a complex, multi-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and continuously develop the organisation’s WHS and risk management framework, ensuring safety is embedded across business practices
- Provide technical and legislative advice across WHS, psychosocial safety, and workplace compliance, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of ANZ requirements
- Analyse risk trends and exposures across the network, designing and delivering targeted safety programs and capability-building initiatives
- Partner closely with operational leaders to support implementation of WHS initiatives and uplift frontline safety capability
- Lead incident management, serious incident investigations, and regulatory engagement
- Oversee workers’ compensation reporting and analysis, providing insights to senior leadership to drive prevention strategies
- Maintain and improve WHS documentation, reporting frameworks, and record-keeping practices
- Cert IV in Work Health & Safety or tertiary qualification in WHS, Risk, or a related discipline
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a WHS leadership or advisory role within retail or similar environments
- Confident operating in a standalone role, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
- Commercially minded, analytical and solutions-focused, balancing risk management with operational realities
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capability, with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
- Comfortable travelling interstate and to New Zealand as required
- Australian Driver’s License
