The Role
As Senior Merchandise Planner - International you will play a pivotal role in shaping merchandise strategy through detailed forecasting, analysis, and planning. You will build the merch planning tools and work closely with Accoutn Managers, 3PL's and Product teams to ensure stock allocation and replenishment align with business objectives. This role is critical to driving sales, margin, and inventory efficiency across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse category and article performance to support seasonal strategic reviews and range planning.
- Deliver SWOT analysis and financial insights to inform buyer decisions and range reviews.
- Develop weekly sales, profit, and stock budgets across item, range, category, and department levels.
- Build purchase and stock flow plans to support sales forecasts and maximise supply chain efficiency.
- Optimise margin mix across intake, POS, and closing stock to maximise gross profit.
- Recommend store grading and ranging strategies based on space and return on investment.
- Manage product lifecycle during range transitions to minimise cost and maximise sales.
- Continuously review in-season trade performance and adjust purchase plans accordingly.
- Ensure markdown actions are timely and aligned with inventory and sales performance.
- Proven experience in merchandise planning, forecasting, or inventory management within a retail environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on margin optimisation and inventory efficiency.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and planning systems (e.g. SSP, PLM, order management tools).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
